The Best Beaches in Mallorca: A Practical Guide for your Trip

mallorca-1

Mallorca is a Mediterranean favourite year after year. Once you’ve been, it usually ends up being a must for your holidays. The island is incredibly versatile; between its culture, local food, and activities, you’ll be able to easily shape the trip exactly as you please.

Mallorca stays lively even in the off-peak season. If you want a buzz, July and August are the months for you, for a more chilled-out pace, May and June are ideal. Although, September and October are hard to beat if you’re looking for a quieter, more exclusive experience.

At DoYouSpain, we’ve put together this guide so you’re all set to visit the best beaches in Mallorca and make the most of your time on the island.

How to Get to the Best Beaches in Mallorca

To make the most of your day, hiring a car in Mallorca is the easiest way to get around, whether you pick it up at the airport or in the city centre. It gives you the freedom to move at your own pace, and it means you can pack all your beach gear without worrying about carrying it on public transport.

Having your own hire car is also the cheapest way to travel if you're with a group. On the DoYouSpain website, you can filter by unlimited mileage, which is perfect for exploring every corner of the island without having to worry about how far you’ve driven.

The Best Beaches in the South of Mallorca

If you’re looking for a Mediterranean paradise, the south is where you need to be. This area is famous for its white sand and turquoise waters.

Es Trenc

mallorca-2

Many people call Es Trenc the 'Mallorcan Caribbean,' and at DoYouSpain, we agree, it’s not hard to see why. This is a virgin beach with crystal-clear, calm water. It’s a protected area and the perfect spot to connect with nature, though it’s very popular, so expect a lively atmosphere.

  • Where to park? There is an all-day paid car park right by the beach.
  • > Mallorca travel guide: All you need to know about the island
  • What to do: Go snorkelling in the clear water or visit the Salinas d'Es Trenc to see the flamingos and the famous salt mountains.
  • Local food: Don’t leave without trying the salt-baked sea bass at the Restaurante Es Trenc, right on the beachfront.

Es Trenc is easily one of the best beaches in Mallorca for catching the sunset.

Cala Pi

mallorca-3

Located in Llucmajor, the view from the cliffs above this cove shows off an incredible shade of blue. It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking for shallow, crystal-clear water for snorkelling.

Hiring a car with DoYouSpain is the smartest way to reach one of the best beaches in Mallorca (about 40 minutes from Palma). On the 505 bus, it takes nearly an hour and a half, and you’ll probably arrive once the beach is already packed. Access to the beach is via a long, steep staircase, so it’s not suitable for those with limited mobility. For parking, you can easily find free spots on any of the surrounding streets.

Important note: There is only one small beach bar (chiringuito) in the cove for drinks. Many visitors prefer to stock up at nearby supermarkets to enjoy a picnic on the sand.

Cala Llombards

mallorca-4

Surrounded by traditional fishermen's huts, Cala Llombards is a must-see. It’s great for families and perfect for diving thanks to its calm waters. Public transport doesn’t reach this area, so having a car is your best bet.

  • Parking tip: There is a free car park, but it fills up fast. We suggest getting there before 10:00 am or at midday, taking advantage of the time when many people leave to go for lunch.
  • Facilities: There is the Chiringuito Cala Llombards. It isn't the cheapest place, but the food is good and the location is unbeatable.

The Best Beaches in the North of Mallorca and the Serra de Tramuntana

> 4 tips you should know before travelling to Mallorca

Heading north, the landscape changes completely. The beaches turn into rugged, hidden coves at the bottom of the mountains. Here are our top picks:

Playa de Muro

mallorca-5

Voted one of the top 12 beaches in the world in 2026, it's a favourite for many because it has everything you could need. From play areas and cafés to every water sport you can think of, Playa de Muro is the perfect spot for families and active travellers. If you get there early, you can easily find a space on the surrounding streets and avoid the paid car parks. If you're after a proper local meal, check out the Figueret restaurant; their local produce is amazing.

Accessibility: This is an inclusive beach with plenty of facilities for people with reduced mobility. It also offers a wide range of adaptive sports, making sure everyone can enjoy what is easily one of the best beaches in Mallorca.

Cala Formentor

mallorca-6

Cala Formentor is the go-to spot for anyone looking for a more exclusive experience. Surrounded by pine trees, it offers natural shade so you can spend the day there without having to carry a parasol around (provided you get there early enough to grab a spot). Bear in mind that this is one of the pricier areas on the island: parking is limited and can cost around 12€ for just two hours.

If you’re looking for total convenience, the Hotel Four Seasons offers private parking, though it comes with a pretty high price tag.

Restrictions (May–October): Access to the beach is controlled by a barrier, which only opens if there are still spaces available in the car park. Check the latest rules on the DGT website before you head off.

Sa Calobra

mallorca-7

Sa Calobra is a wild, untouched spot that’s perfect if you want to switch off. There are no sunbeds or activities here. The road leading to this beach is full of curves with some unforgettable views, so take your time and drive carefully.

To properly enjoy your day, make sure to bring water shoes, as it’s a beach full of pebbles and not sand. The paid car park costs about 15€ for the whole day and is less than a 10-minute walk away. There’s no public transport here, so your hire car is essential.

If Sa Calobra gets too busy, Cala Tuent is just 15 minutes away. It’s a quieter cove where you can grab a bite to eat at the Es Vergeret restaurant.
